What an amazing experience today! We hiked into Western Brook Pond and took the boat excursion up the land-locked fjord. Along the path we saw pitcher plants which are the provincial flower of Newfoundland. The trees are gnarled and stunted from the harsh weather conditions. It was pretty windy going across the lake to the high cliffs but once inside the fjord it was sheltered and quite warm. The water is pure and fresh. Water falls stream down the cliff sides into the lake. It is magnificent - a must see.
View from the parking lot. On the trail leading to the boat ride. Emerging Pitcher Plant Entering the "fjord". Moose and calf on the shore.
