Going Home Slowly - St. John's in Bowring Park
We arrived in St. John's early enough to take a drive with my friend Dave and see some of the sights. The first place we went was Bowring Park. It is one of the prettiest parks I have seen since leaving England. Manicured gardens, water fowl, fountains, statues, bridges, monuments and a tumbling brook are all part of the Bowring Park experience. There is a lot of history contained in the these beautiful gardens including a memorial listing the names of 591 soldiers from the Newfoundland Regiment, 114 sailors from the Newfoundland Royal Naval Reserve and 115 from the Merchant Marine. I would have enjoyed spending more time there but we had many other places to visit on our whirlwind tour.
As usual love your pictures, Lorna. Especially pictures of Newfoundland,my home province!!
