Valley of the Five Lakes - Remembering Brian

August 11, 2014  •  1 Comment

On the last day of our trip we stopped in Jasper and hiked the Valley of the Five Lakes. 39 years ago, Brian (my first husband) and I did this hike on our honeymoon. We were 25 and 20 years old respectively. Why two young people are talking about death on their honeymoon I have no idea but we decided on that hike that we didn't want people visiting a graveyard to remember us but rather to do this hike and see the beauty the world has to offer. My present partner was Brian's best friend so the two of us took this opportunity to remember Brian and toast him with some of his favourite scotch whiskey. When we stopped at lake two the dragon flies danced around us, another reminder of Brian who fought his battle with cancer so valiantly. It was a good way to end this particular trip and even though it rained a little the grandeur of the Rocky Mountain scenery shone through.

Brian would have loved every minute of that. A very special day for you and Gene.
